Paul Heldenbrand, Esq.
Paul Heldenbrand is the founder and Managing Member of Riverbend Group, LLC. He has been an executive search and human resources consultant since 1985, and has specialized in attorney recruiting and law firm merger consulting since 1990 (having spent his first five years as a commercial real estate recruiter). He places attorneys at all levels with law firms, trade associations, corporations and accounting firms.

Most of Paul's time is spent recruiting law firm partners and practice groups on behalf of major national law firm clients, as well as representing individual partners, practice groups and law firms seeking to relocate their practices or explore strategic merger opportunities. He also recruits and places top associate and counsel level attorneys with law firms and other employers. Although his experience has generally been focused on the Washington, D.C.-Baltimore metropolitan area and surrounding Mid-Atlantic region, he has placed attorneys in most other regions of the U.S. as well as in several other countries. His experience has included recruiting and representing top level government attorneys and other officials such as General/Chief Counsel and heads of various federal agencies and Departments, Presidential Cabinet members, U.S. and foreign Ambassadors, Members of Congress (both U.S. and state), Assistant Attorneys General, a former U.S. Attorney General, a former U.S. Solicitor General, federal and state judges, members of international tribunals, etc.

Prior to forming Riverbend Group in early 2005, Paul was an executive search consultant and Principal for almost twenty years with a Top 25-ranked national search firm headquartered in the Washington, D.C. area. Before that, he was an attorney with a Washington, D.C. law firm where he specialized in communications law and litigation. He is a 1983 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a 1980 honors graduate of the University of Maryland (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, etc.), where he majored in Criminology. He is a current member of the Maryland Bar and American Bar Association, and a former member of the D.C. Bar and the Bar of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.

Paul's accomplishments at his former executive search firm included numerous honors and awards. He was a perennial member of the company's President's Circle (top annual producers club), as well as one of the only account executives in the company's history to earn both the Hall of Fame and Living Legend lifetime achievement awards. His annual performance awards included National Account Executive of the Year; Washington, D.C. Account Executive of the Year; and National Multiple Placement Account Executive of the Year. He also held company-wide records at various times during his tenure for the highest annual billings by a new account executive, greatest number of consecutive months of production by an account executive, and largest placement in the first quarter-century of the company's history.

In addition to his more than twenty-four years of experience in executive recruiting, Paul has served as an expert witness in disputed matters involving employment and recruiting related issues. He is also the owner of SpecialtyDomains.com, a web domain sales company focused primarily on providing specialized professional domain names to law firms, recruiting firms and other organizations.

Paul lives in Howard County, Maryland with his wife and two teenage children. He is an avid fly-fisherman, photographer and former competitive tennis player. He is fluent in Spanish.
